This week I bought a library cart. It is the traditional beige, six shelf, heavy duty, steel library cart or as they call it a book cart. When you personally own enough books to stock a small towns public library believe me these things can be a lifesaver.
At a cost of nearly $500 for a new one, this was not something that I really had in the family budget in the past. But while visiting one of my favorite websites in all the world lo and behold I find a book cart in excellent condition and it cost me less than the cost of one of the wheels on the cart.
I don’t know what it is about a book but I absolutely love buying books. And my real joy is finding those old books with wonderful illustrations and beautiful type and leather bindings. I don’t go after those million dollar expensive collectible books but I go after those inexpensive books from the late 1800s to early 1900s that reminds me of what life was like during the early days of my grandparents life. Besides that they also fit my budget. Most of my best acquisitions are in the one dollar to two dollars price range.
One thing a large book collection will not allow you to do is move a whole lot. But I’m hoping that this book cart might change that. I really enjoy it because it is so sturdy and it has such a good feel to it and it rolls so easily. I know now why they cost so much. And I also know why I am so thrilled with my $17 purchase. What a wonderful deal.
So if you live in a state that is not close to NC then I’ll let you in on my favorite auction site. It’s called GovDeals.Com. It is made up of mostly local governments who are always getting rid of surplus property so they can spend more of your tax dollars on other stuff that they will probably not need. My suggestion is to review closely and if in doubt schedule a visit to check it out before you place that final bid.
